Presidential candidate of a faction of the Labour Party, Digar Ezenwafor has withdrawn from race.
Ezenwafor who served Peter Obi as Chief of Protocol during his first term as governor of Anambra State disclosed in a letter he addressed to the National Chairman of the party, and seen by TOS NEWS on Thursday.
“I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming presidential election in 2023. After consulting my supporters nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons.
“I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great party. I hank the leadership of our great party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria. Thank you and God bless you all,” he wrote.
On Wednesday, Ezenwafor emerged as the candidate of the faction led by its former Deputy National Chairman, Callistus Okafor.
“I am on a rescue mission to free Nigerians from social, economic and political crises currently bedeviling it,” he said after the primary election.
