Dakuku Peterside, a former director general of Nigeria’s Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has called out governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State for allegedly “wasting N30 billion” state’s funds on delegates during the just concluded presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Peterside alleged that Governor Wike gave “about N10 billion of public funds in unsolicited charity to states, and about N20 billion pursuing his ill-fated presidential bid”.
The former federal lawmaker disclosed that Governor Wike wasted billions of state’s funds on delegates, while Rivers pensioners were “going to bed hungry, with some not waking up due to frustration”.
Peterside made this known on Sunday in his congratulatory message to Atiku Abubakar, who won the PDP presidential ticket after he poled 371 votes.
He described Governor Wike as a “local champion” rejected by the party delegates.
Peterside also blamed Wike’s failure to win the primary on lack of “requisite experience” in national politics and urged the governor to “shade off his toga of pride” and submit to Abubakar for tutelage.
