Canadian Singer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, famously known as “The Weeknd” has offered the sum of $1m to relief struggles in Ethiopia.
The music star who made the donation known on his Instagram page said he is planning to provide two million meals to displaced people with the donations.
He made the donations in Ethiopia in line with the crisis between the government and the Tigray region which has led to the death of thousands of people and over one million people being displaced.
The current donation by the singer is just one of his numerous donations. Following the advent of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the singer offered $1million as Covid-19 relief, part of the money was given to a Canadian hospital.
