Abia govt gives reasons for construction of 60 roads

Abia State government has said that the on-going construction and rehabilitation of 60 roads at the same time in the three senatorial zones of the state is aimed at stimulating economic development in all parts of the state.

The state commissioner for Works, Hon. Eziuche Ubani, who stated this while inspecting the progress of work on the roads being constructed by the state government in Abia North Senatorial Zone, said the roads were properly chosen to give the people a sense of belonging as well as to stimulate economic activities in the areas.

He said that inspection and monitoring of the 60 active sites where construction work was ongoing simultaneously was to ensure that the contractors worked according to specifications and on schedule, saying that the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration cannot tolerate the construction of roads that would collapse soon after they are completed.

The roads inspected by the commissioner who was accompanied by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Richard Nwala and top officials of the ministry included the Nneato bridge and the Eke Eziama Obulo-

Ngodo Isuochi road in Umunneochi local government area.

Others were the Bende-Idima Abam road; Abam- Ndiokereke-Arochukwu road, the Abiriba –Etitiama Nkporo road and the Abiriba ring road in Arochukwu and Ohafia local government areas respectively.
