
14 pilgrims from Adamawa State have been confirmed dead in the hajj stampede that occurred in Saudi Arabia, Adamawa State government has disclosed.
The Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims welfare Board, Engineer Umar Abubakar Bobboi made the disclosure while presenting the official report of the 2015 hajj pilgrimage during the State Executive council meeting yesterday at the government House, Yola.
Engr Bobboi explained that, nine of the pilgrims died at the stampede site, while three others at different places. Also, two other pilgrims are still missing.

The council in session also observed a minute silence in honour of the victims of last Friday’s Jambutu Juma’at mosque bomb blast.
Briefing newsmen after the council meeting, Adamawa State commissioner for information, Ahmad Sajoh announced that the council in session approved the trimming of the State ministries from 28 to 24 in line with accountability and prudence of the State government.
Sajoh also announced that the council approved 300 solar poles in 10 of the 21 local government areas of the State with bias to insurgency ravaged areas.
According to him, the solar poles are to be located in Mosques, Churches, Markets and other public places to enable the people to identify and detect Boko Haram insurgents during attacks.
