Senegal rewarded each member of the national football team with cash prizes and plots of land as the country continued to celebrate their victory in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final against Egypt.
Senegal defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties becoming the tournament champions for the first time in their history.
President Macky Sall of Senegal awarded a special cash prize of over $87,000 (£64,000) and plots in the capital, Dakar, and in the neighbouring Diamniadio city to each team member during a ceremony at the presidential palace on Tuesday.
The players were also awarded Senegal’s highest order, making them Grand Officers of the National Order of the Lion.
The team’s coach, Aliou Cissé was also praised by president Sall.
