Federal High Court in Abuja has on Tuesday denied former registrar of Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde bail on alleged misappropriation of about N900 million preferred against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Justice Obiora Egwuatu rejected the verbal application for bail by counsel to the defendant, Peter Olorunishola, SAN, after the ICPC lawyer, Ebenezer Shogunle, opposed the submission.
Prof. Ojerinde who was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday on 18-count charges of fraud denied all the charges and was ordered by the court to be taken to custody till Thursday when his lawyer, Peter Olorunishola (SAN), will formally apply for his bail.
The former Chief Executive Officer of JAMB is the sole defendant in the suit marked: CR/97/21 bordering on alleged misappropriation of about N900 million.
The ICPC arrested Dibu Ojerinde in March. The ICPC said he allegedly perpetrated the fraud as JAMB registrar from April 10, 2012 to August 1, 2016 and the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO) between 1999 and 2007.
