Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has fumed over the incessant killings in the state.
While reacting to the murder of seven Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in a camp in Abagena, a Makurdi suburb in Benue State on Monday, the governor in a video that is causing gridlock on social media fumed against ineptitude of President Buhari on insecurity, noting that, the president should allow the people to buy AK 47 and face the attackers.
TOS News gathered that the attackers stormed the community and destroyed many houses before moving into the camp.
The governor who said the unceasing attacks means there is no government at the federal level, lamented how he hinted the federal government on the siege suspected Fulani herdsmen in fourteen countries declared on Benue State for banning open grazing.
Ortom lamented that he knows the implication of telling his people to go on self-help, hence, said the president must do something urgently to contain the attack.
“The president must do the needful. I am aware that this killing is going on in South-west, South-east, South-south and everywhere and people are afraid, saying they are bandits; they are not bandits, they are Fulani’s.
“This is sad; this is sad. My heart bleeds. President Buhari must arise to his responsibilities as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. If he does not do anything, our people say the goat does not bite, but if you push it to wall, it will bite.
“This is not accepted. President Buhari was elected by the people, he must arise. Buhari if you are the governor of Benue state, what do you want me to say? You must do something, They are your kinsmen, call them and tell them enough is enough.
“I know the implication of saying people should go on self help, if you are serious about security matter, allow us to buy AK 47 and face them,” the governor fumed.
