Almeria have placed a whopping price tag on their Nigerian born striker, Sadiq Umar, after Newcastle made a move to take him away.
Eddie Howe who was appointed as the club’s new manager this month after Steve Bruce was fired in October, shortly after Newcastle’s mega-rich Saudi takeover the club was unable to be with his team on his first match at the weekend after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.
Despite earning a point in a 3-3 draw with Brentford on Saturday, Newcastle slipped to bottom of the Premier League table as Norwich beat Southampton to move up from 20th position.
Newcastle’s new owners are expected to spend a huge amount to get new players in January transfer window as it important in order to avoid being relegated.
Howe want to sign Nigerian forward Sadiq, in January at £15m, however, the fee is way off Spanish side Almeria’s valuation.
Barcelona are also looking for the Nigerian striker as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero, who has been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia.
Sadiq has scored seven goals and six assists in 16 league games this season for UD Almería in the Segunda division.
