Jude Okeke-led executive of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) has cleared two aspirants, Chuma Umeoji, and Mrs Nwaeke Chinyere, to contest the party’s July 1st Anambra Governorship Primary.
The governorship primary is scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 1, in Awka.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the factional National Publicity Secretary, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, in Abuja, on Wednesday.
The statement said, Chairman of the Screening Committee, Mazi Daniel Ikeh, described Umeoji, who is the member representing Aguata constituency in the House of Representatives as one of the pillars of the party.
The statement read, “Being one of the strongest financiers of the party, Hon Umeoji has done well contributing to the growth of the party.”
Other members of the screening committee, according to the statement include, Alhaji Dauda Abdullahi, Ambassador Saduma Henry and Dr Aminu Jibril.
On Wednesday, June 23, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,Charles Soludo, emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, for the November 6, Anambra State governorship election.
The primary was conducted at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka by the Chief Victor Oye-led faction of the party.
However, the Jude Okeke-led faction of APGA had earlier announced Soludo’s suspension over alleged anti-party activities.
