Aspirants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State have considered consensus ahead of the primary of the party on June 26.
Speaking after the Idris Wada-led screening committee on Tuesday, the aspirants exuded the possibility of meeting collectively to pick a consensus candidate in the party’s primary election.
According to the former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state, who is also an aspirant, Mrs Genevieve Ekwochi, said consensus arrangement was possible before the primary.
Also in his words, Mr Emeka Etiaba (SAN), aid the issue of consensus was very possible before the primary of the party.
“We are brothers. Most of the Anambra people are related. We will sit down in the course of the campaign to discuss the issue,” he said.
Nzeribe Chukwumaeze, also indicated that consensus was possible. A member of the House of Representatives, Chris Azubogu who is also an aspirant, said nothing is impossible in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Idris Wada disclosed to newsmen after the screening that all the aspirants have requisite academic and moral justification to contest, adding that report of the exercise will be made available to the leadership of the party within two weeks.
