The Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted a consensus arrangement in the forthcoming ward congress in the state.
This decision was taken at a meeting of party stakeholders coordinated by the acting State Chairman of the party, Ali Dalori and held on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the state’s capital. Dalori pledged to provide a level- playing ground for all contestants.
The State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, moved the motion for the adoption of the mode, which was seconded by a former member of the House of Representatives, Abdu Musa, and totally adopted after a voice vote was taken.
However, Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, who is the leader of the party, called for strict adherence to APC rules and regulations guiding the conduct of congresses. He further cautioned party members to avoid acts capable of threatening the unity of the party.
The governor also expressed concern about how non-compliance with party rules and regulations in some states led to proceedings which affected its chances in the previous general elections.
The stakeholders meeting was attended by former governors Maina Ma’aji Lawan and Kashim Shettima; Senators representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume and Borno North, Abubakar Kyari.
