The All Progressives Congress (APC) will constitute a committee on Thursday to evaluate reports across the country over the state congresses held last weekend, Ismal’il Ahmad, a member of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Congress, who doubles as the National Youth Leader of the party has said.
Isma’il, during a radio programme in Kano, on Wednesday, explained that the party headquarters will deliberate on the matter before making a decision.
According to him, the representatives of the party from Abuja to monitor the congresses are yet to submit their reports.
In Kano state, two factional leaders emerged from the October 16 state congress. Abdullahi Abbas, belonging to Governor Ganduje and Haruna Danzago, loyal to former Governor of the State, Ibrahim Shekarau, are both claiming the chairmanship seat.
Meanwhile, the former Governor of Kano State and senator representing Kano Central Senatorial zone, Ibrahim Shekarau, through a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday has vowed to support the newly-elected factional leaders of the party under Haruna Danzago and remain in the party.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform our friends and associates on the State of our party APC in Kano State.
“I, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, led some of elected National Assembly members and forwarded a complaint to the National Headquarters of APC on how the party is being ran without involving us in the State.
“We are elected and our people have the right to know what is going on in the running of the party. We have already forwarded our complaint and was accepted. We hope the issue will be resolved.
“I wish to inform our people that we will remain in APC forever. We have been patient but we will need not allowed ourselves to be fooled as we will not listen to anyone except People at the national headquarters where we forwarded our complaint.
“I want to make it categorically clear that in Kano State, we recognised only Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago as the elected APC chairman.
“We pray to God to give him the strength and wisdom to steer the leadership of the party. We also pray to God to guide all the other 35 elected officials of the party.”
Similarly, in a press statement issued by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar and made available to newsmen on Wednesday, he claimed that the National Headquarters of the APC has recognised his anointed candidate, Abdullahi Abbas, as the duly elected State Chairman of the party.
