Bandits have killed Rilwanu Gadagau; a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, who confirmed the incident to journalists in a statement, described the death as ‘devastating’.
TOS NEWS gathered that Gadagau was among the people kidnapped along the Kaduna – Zaria road Monday.
According to a family source, Gadagau was abducted at a spot known as Dindin Rauga and killed by the bandits on their way to their hideout in the forest.
Another source explained that Gadagau’s vehicle was attacked while he was on a call with one of his colleagues, Shehu Yunusa.
“He was on phone with his colleague, Shehu Yunusa, on that fateful night, telling the colleague that he had been informed about a kidnapping incident taking place ahead of them. He was contemplating on either returning to Kaduna or proceeding to Zaria when he abruptly took excuse and hung the phone,” the source narrated.
This comes after Dr. Rabe Nasir, the Katsina state Commissioner of Science and Technology was assassinated by suspected bandits in his house in Katsina last Wednesday.
Aminu was the second Nigerian lawmaker to be killed within six months by suspected bandits who are causing unrest in the Northern part of the country.
A member of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Mohammed Ahmed was killed in June, few hours after he decamped with Governor Bello Matawalle to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
