Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Benue North-West senatorial district.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide on Monday, Ortom who emerged as an unopposed candidate expressed appreciation to the people of the zone for always giving him support.
“He said he was pleased to be given another opportunity to serve the state at the Senate at the expiration of his tenure as governor.
“People of the State, especially the people of Benue North-West, have demonstrated an uncommon support to him, pointing out that “I have nothing to pay back than to remain their loyal servant, to give all to their service, adding, ‘the interest of the people will always be my priority.”
Ortom was a Minister of State Trade and Investments in Nigeria during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan. He was elected governor of Benue State as a member of the All Progressives Congress in 2015. He was re-elected as governor on 29 May 2019.
