SENATE President,Bukola Saraki,Wednesday, swore in Alhaji Baba Kaka Garbai,as a senator representing Borno Central Senatorial zone.
Garbai, who was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC,as winner of the senatorial by-election, replaces Senator Ahmed Zannah, who died shortly after innauguration of the 8th Senate.
He was sworn in by the Senate President,shortly after votes and proceeding of the previous legislate date was adopted by the Red Chamber.
Senate President,Bukola Saraki, while performing the innaguration rites,charged the senator for effective representation to his people even as he congratulated the him on his victory at the poll.
Saraki said the 8th Senate,being conscious of the challenges ahead of it,was working towards repositioning itself to meet the tasks and charged the senator to brace up for the tasks.
INEC had declared that the APC’s candidate polled 75 per cent votes in the by-election, leaving the PDP candidate with about 20 per cent.
According to the electoral umpire, the APC representative polled 120,639 votes while the PDP candidate got 32,346 votes.
The candidate of the PDP, Kaka Bolori, has since rejected the declared result, alleging massive rigging by the APC.
