The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN has ordered for the immediate prosecution of offenders of the Federal Government’s ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria.
In a statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the minister, Umar Gwandu, Malami directed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) to swing into action and commence in earnest the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government De-activation of operations of Twitter in Nigeria.
He also directed that the DPPF liaise with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, National Communication Commission (NCC) and other relevant government agencies to ensure the speedy prosecution of offenders without any further delay.
Recall that TOS news had earlier reported twitter’s deletion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement threatening to deal decisively with those responsible for perpetrating violence in the country.
This was however followed by the ban on the microblogging site by the nation’s ministry of information.
