President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, received the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and other heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting is expected to be a briefing to the President on the current security situation across the country as well as proffer solutions.
This was disclosed by the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on his official Facebook page.
Ministers of Defence, Bashir Magashi; Justice, Abubakar Malami; Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama were part of the meeting.
This is as a result of increase in banditry, kidnapping, and killings in the country.
The insecurity situation in the country has gone out of hand with the emergence of criminal gangs who raid communities, steal cattle and kidnap residents for ransom after looting and burning homes especially in the northwestern part of the country.
Recently, schools have been the target of the kidnappers and hundreds of students were kidnapped for ransom.
In an effort to strategically fight banditry, telecom companies are requested to suspend operations in some areas.
