Government data released, Tuesday shows that China’s population grew to 1.41 billion at an average annual growth rate of 0.53%; its slowest rate in decades.
Some seven million census takers conducted the census in late 2020 by going door-to-door to collect information from households.
The recent census mirrored changes household types, region, gender and others.
The seventh census conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) with respect to age shows there were 253.38 million people in the age group of 0 to 14 in 2020, while Chinese people aged 60 and above reached 264.02 million in 2020.
The male population reached 723.34 million, while the female population reached 688.44 million of the whole population.
Also, there were a total of 494.16 million households with 1,292.81 million people and 28.53 million collective households with 118.97 million people.
Also, a total of 901.99 million people lived in urban areas and 509.79 million people in rural areas, making up 36.11 percent.
