Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late goal as United came from two goals down to beat Atalanta 3-2 in Champions League encounter on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
In the process, Ronaldo set another record as he became the first player to have scored against the most teams in the Champions League.
Ole Solskjaer’s side before Wednesday’s encounter only had two wins in seven matches across all competitions and it was looking like another bad day for red devil before the game was turned around in the second half.
United fans were shocked as Atalanta raced to a 2-0 lead by halftime courtesy goals from Mario Pasalic and Merih Demiral goals.
United had responded in second half with Marcus Rashford’s 52th minute goal when Bruno Fernandes located him with a pinpoint pass.
Thereafter,Harry Maguire equalized the affair when he put the ball into a net on yet another Fernandes pass following a corner kick.
It was then Ronaldo rescued united winning with his 81st minute header when Luke Shaw swung in a cross as United surged to the top of Group F after winning the five goal thrill.
Elsewhere, Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to score the last goal in Villarreal’s 4-1 away win over Young Boys of Switzerland.
Yeremi Pino handed Villarreal sixth minute lead, and Gerard Moreno doubled the advantage 10 minutes later.
Meschack Elia pulled one back for Young Boys in the 77th minute, but late two goals from Alberto Moreno and Chukwueze sealed an away win for the Yellow Submarines.
