Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has revealed that corruption is Nigeria greatest problem.
Akpabio made this disclosure while giving a keynotes address at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) strategic capacity building in Uyo on Friday.
According to the Minister, the ugly and devastating situation of the Nigerian society is due to corruption in high places in all sectors of government.
“Corruption is one of the greatest problems of the Nigerian society and it also finds its ugly and devastating effects in all sectors of the polity, including the NDDC.
“The level of corruption engulfed all the sectors, including government, parastatals, ministries, government officials and community leaders even the youth leaders and the NDDC is not left out,” he said.
The minister who outlined restiveness, breakdown of trust, abuse and misuse of power as consequences of corruption also faulted weak political and institutional governance in the Niger Delta.
