The Ghana Health Service on Monday confirmed that at least 136 students in a high school in the country tested positive to the COVID-19 Delta variant which was first detected in India.
According to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the latest COVID-19 update in the country shows that, out of 550 samples taken among students in Achimota School, 136 came out positive.
Aboagye said three students from the school went to the hospital last month with symptoms of influenza, but ended up testing positive for COVID-19.
“Subsequently, other symptomatic students and contacts were identified, listed and tested for COVID-19.
“However, majority of the students, who tested positive, are day students,’’ he added.
