The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday night confirmed additional 10 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic and 618 new cases, bringing Nigeria’s total infection tally to 190,333.
According to the data from the agency, with the 10 newly confirmed deaths reported on Friday evening the country’s fatality toll now stands at 2,308.
The centre added that the newly confirmed 618 infections were reported across 14 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It also showed that the new cases increased Nigeria’s number of active cases to 180,210 from 17,791 reported 24 hours earlier.
Lagos State in the South-west Nigeria recorded more than half of the daily infections in Nigeria with 312 new cases, while Akwa Ibom State in the South-south region followed with 89 cases and Edo State with 71 cases.
Rivers State recorded 47 cases to rank fourth in contrast to the 217 cases reported a day earlier, followed by Ekiti and Plateau States with 20 cases each, while Delta and Kwara States registered 15 and 13 cases respectively.
The FCT recorded 11 cases, followed by two states in the South-west, Osun State, with 8 cases and Oyo State with 4 cases.
Ogun State in the South-west and Benue in the North-central recorded 3 cases each, just as Gombe and Kaduna States recorded only 1 case each.
