The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control on Wednesday confirmed that the country recorded 144 new cases of the coronavirus and 5 deaths in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This is according to the latest update posted on the NCDC official website on Wednesday.
The breakdown of the data showed that Imo state registered the highest number of infection with 38 cases followed by Plateau – 20, Lagos -17, FCT – 16, Kwara -15, Zamfara -15, Ondo -7, Rivers – 5, Taraba – 4, Oyo – 3, Bauchi – 2, Edo – 1, and Ekiti – 1.
The NCDC said the 144 new Covid-19 infections raised the number of confirmed cases in the country to 213,321.
The 5 new covid-19 related deaths reported by the disease centre raised the death toll from the virus to 2,973.
However, 206,206 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
