According to figures released on Wednesday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria recorded 8 COVID-19 related deaths with 344 new infections across 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Out of 344 new cases, the NCDC disclosed that FCT registered the highest number of new infections with 79 cases followed by Lagos with 62 cases.
Rivers recorded 45, Kaduna 33, Plateau 22, Edo 16, Benue 13, Kano 12, Cross River 11, Delta 11, Anambra 9, Abia 8, Jigawa 7, Bauchi 4, Ekiti 4,Kwara 4, Oyo 2, Akwa Ibom and Nasarawa reported 1 case each.
The health agency said the 344 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 206,623.
However, 194,475 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With eight additional COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus is now 2,731.
It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
