Covid-19 cases fester on Thursday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in an update published on its Facebook confirmed 100 new cases of the coronavirus across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This is higher than 65 infections reported on Wednesday.
The NCDC, however, did not report any additional Covid-19 related death on Wednesday and Thursday.
The breakdown of the newly recorded cases by the health agency showed that Lagos state reported 22 cases while Yobe recorded 18, followed by FCT with 15, Ogun – 7, Osun – 7, Oyo – 6, Sokoto – 6, Imo – 5, Kwara – 4, Bauchi – 3, Edo – 3 while Delta, Jigawa, Kano and Nasarawa reported a single case each.
The 100 new infections according to the agency raised the total number of confirmed cases to 253,505 while 229,893 people have recovered and have been discharged.
With no additional Covid-19 related death recorded for the day, the death toll from the virus stands at 3,136.
