A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Arch. Dapo Ademola-Adesina has advocated for unity for political development.
He disclosed this on Saturday at a symposium organized by The New Boluwaduro (TBN), a socio-political organization established by the youths and students in Boluwaduro Local Government of Osun State.
Speaking on the topic, “Maintaining Unity In Diversity,” the US-trained financial analyst explained the power of unity with an analogy, that the boldness of a lion comes from within and also a lion cannot operate in isolation, but in the midst of two or three other lions, it can use any animal on earth as prey.
“When I was initially informed about the plan of the students on this initiative called The New Boluwaduro, I hesitated and thought it was a scam. But I have been proven otherwise. The youths are all here to attest to the fact that I was not involved in the planning of this event because I am here as a guest just as many of you are. This program is not about me, but about Boluwaduro Local Government. I encourage and embrace their passion for this initiative to take this Local government to a whole new level.
“The Bible has reiterated that the righteous should be as bold as a lion but the truth is that the boldness of a lion comes from within; a lion cannot operate in isolation but in the midst of two or three of other lions, it can use any animal on earth as prey,” he said.
Encouraging the youths of Boluwaduro to rise up to the responsibility, he said the youths of Boluwaduro Constituent must jettison inanity and every form of mediocrity.
“It is high time we lead our federal constituency and not play second fiddle or imbibe a slave mentality. We, the youths, because I am a youth as well are the leaders of tomorrow, but we cannot lead on social media by continuously taking selfies or pictures, but only by taking initiatives and leading movements that would bring about positive change,” he said.
In his remark, former Attorney General of Osun State, Barr. Niyi Owolade who was a lecturer at the event maintained that only through unity that strength and productivity can be realized.
Delivering his lecture, Mr. Adebayo Oyedepo from the department of Science Laboratory Technology, Igbajo Polytechnic, encouraged stakeholders in nation building not to underate youths development, noting that one of the pre-requisites to development is when the youths are developed.
Highlight of the event was cultural dance from the a section of the youth in the Local government.
