Disunity in Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration in Osun deepens and it is becoming obvious when a few days ago, State Commandant of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu in his article, dated 24th March and titled: “YOU ARE IGNORANT OF REALITY OF LIFE” disrobed Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Charles Akinola and Special Adviser on Security, Mrs Abimbola Ige of their relevance in the political firmament of Osun State.
In his article, Amitolu Shittu affirmed that the Chief of Staff is not only an ‘opportunists,’ but also an ‘arrogant political liability and busy body’ in the administration, whose failure has begun since he was Director General of O’REAP in Aregbsola’s administration.
“What is the political relevance of Charles Akinola in the present scheme of political game of alignment as the Chief of Staff to the Governor? He is unpopular even in his Polling unit, let alone his political ward.
“To say that Charles is a political liability is an understatement. Of a fact, he is a terrible liability and materic in the game of busy body and arrogant in character,” he wrote.
Amitolu also described Mrs Abiodun Ige as a backbiter and pathological liar who wallows in political deficiency.
“Abiodun Ige is a pathological liar, pretender and backbiter. She is a politically deficit. She’s another liability to our government and instead of her to face the reality, she is busy looking for Amitolu Shittu’s downfall ( which will never come to reality) to cover her inadequacy, indeficiency, incompetency and lack of direction. She is self-centered and too greedy,” he said.
Consequently, the Osun State Government has invited the Field Commander of the State’s Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, to appear before a disciplinary committee it has set up, over the piece that has been making toxic dust in Oyetola’s administration.
In a statement on the official Twitter handle of the government of Osun on Saturday evening, stated that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, willing to ensure that discipline is instilled in his cabinet, especially considering that Amitolu is also a serving member of his government, has directed a Committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, to wade into the matter and submit the proceedings of their intervention within 72 hours.
Other members of that Committee include: the Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo; Chairman, Osun Security Network and Amotekun Corps Board- Gen. Ademola Aderibigbe; Commissioner for Finance, Mr Bola Oyebamiji; and the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode.
Speaking with TOS News on February 28, Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of Osun APC, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi debunked the news that there’s problem in Oyetola’s administration.
However, another chieftain of the APC who also contested 2018 governorship ticket with Oyetola, Hon. Babatunde Adedotun Taiwo said to say there’s no problem is a ‘big lie.’
“There are two factions in Osun APC, one is Oyetola and the other one is Aregbsola,” he said.
According to Hon. Tunde Taiwo, the rift is because there’s no inclusion of Aregbsola’s boys in his cabinet and the reversal of his policies.
