Prayers have been banned at the National Eid prayer ground along the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road Abuja.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello who made the announcement said the ban was as a result of the level at which COVID-19 was ravaging some parts of the world. The Minister who disclosed this in a meeting with a delegation from the FCT League of Imams Initiative led by its chairman, Imam (Dr) Tajudeen Adigun discussed measures on how to curb the further spread of the pandemic and modalities of holding prayers for the upcoming Eid el-Fitr celebrations. The Minister asked worshippers to hold Eid prayers outdoors within the premises of their neighborhood Jumaat mosques following non-pharmaceutical protocols of covid 19which gives a limit to less than 50% of installed capacity. He further stated that all public parks, recreation and entertainment centers will be closed.
