The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi, Yusuf Abdullahi reported that at least eight people died in a road accident that occurred in Goltukurwa Village along Dass-Bauchi Road on Saturday.
Abdullahi confirmed the incident during an interview with Newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi State.
He said the accident involved an Opel Vectra Car with plate number AA 954 GYD and one Tipper Mercedes Benz with number plate NIN 279 SA.
He attributed the cause of the accident to overloading, speed violation and head-on-collision, adding that victims of the crash comprised of two males, six females and a male child.
He added that only the driver of the tipper identified as Abubakar Mohammed came out unharmed out of nine people involved in the Accident. He confirmed that the corpses of the demise have been taken to the Hospital.
“This is the December period and we have always been sensitizing motorists in the state about the dangers associated with speeding and overloading.
“I want to use this opportunity to plead with motorists to always be conscious of all traffic rules and regulations as well as weather conditions before embarking on their journeys.
“They should also remember that only the living souls, not the dead, would live to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities,” he added.
