The police in Delta State confirmed that 18 persons have been rescued from a collapsed church building belonging to the Salvation Ministries in Asaba, Delta State.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the police in Delta State, Bright Edafe.
The rescue operation was led by the officials of the Delta State Emergency Management Agency, fire service and the police.
Mr Edafe said no death has been recorded so far, adding that children and adults are among those rescued. The rescued have been taken to yet-to-be identified hospitals in the state capital.
The church building collapsed on Tuesday evening, during a church service, trapping many worshippers, including children, who attended the service.
