The immediate past Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, has emerged winner in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries.
Chairperson of the Primary Election Committee, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State, announcing the winner said Biodun polled 101,703 out of the total number of votes cast.
The Governor made the announcement at the State Collation Centre, APC party Secretariat, at Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Mr Abubakar said, “It is my pleasure to declare Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of this primary, haven scored the highest votes cast.
“Haven satisfied all necessary criteria, I hereby declare Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the winner.”
He noted that Ekiti APC had 183,560 registered members, 107,877 members were accredited and the total votes cast was 104,983.
Oyebanji who is touted as preferred candidate of Governor Kayode Fayemi resigned last year December to contest to contest in the primaries. The Press Secretary to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Yinka Oyebode announced that, Oyebanji’s resignation “as conveyed in a letter to the governor dated December 3, 2021, takes effect from Tuesday, December 7.”
