BAP Productions, Terra Kulture Arts and Studios in partnership with the South African State Theatre (SAST) have announced they are collaborating with Ster-Kinekor, South Africa’ biggest movie exhibitor, to screen ‘Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’, a musical created by Bolanle Austen-Peters.
Renowned Movie and Theatre Director, Bolanle Austen-Peters, confirmed the partnership on Saturday.
The founder and Managing Director of Terra Kulture revealed that it it was quite exciting to receive the news of partnership from Aubrey Sekabi, the Artistic Director of the SAST
Austen-Peters said “It is indeed exciting times in the African Theatre industry and BAP Production is proudly flying the Nigerian flag internationally.
“It is the first time a Nigerian stage play has been converted to screen, after successful outings in Cairo Egypt, Pretoria South Africa, Lagos and Abuja.”
“Fela and the Kalakuta Queens” is set to begin screening in cinemas in South Africa from September to October 2021.
The acclaimed stage musical, which tells the exciting story of legendary musical icon and activist, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, reveals the sensational life of the world-renowned queens of Kalakuta, unmasking common misconceptions about them.
