Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Ex Afghan Prime Minister and leader of the Afghan Islamic Party, has announced he is solidly behind the upcoming Taliban government, adding that he expects the new governance system to be announced by the end of the week.
In an interview, the former PM said in order for the Taliban government to succeed, competent people must be assigned, adding that he does not intend to take a position in the government or become a partner with it.
Hekmatyar stressed that Turkey is one of Afghanistan’s best friends, pointing to the brotherly and trusting relations between the peoples of the two countries.
The Afghan politician said that the international community is working to prevent the establishment of a new government in Afghanistan or to appoint a government close to it and called on the world to respect the Afghan people’s will and recognise their next government.
When asked about the extent of the danger posed by Daesh in Afghanistan, Hekmatyar said despite propaganda aiming to show that Daesh is a threat, it is not.
