A former chairman of Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Zannah has died.
Aliyu died after a protracted illness which took him to India in 2019 where he underwent medical treatment before returning to the country.
He was appointed the state commissioner for Social Welfare Development by former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari.
Hon. Zannah who later defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, was appointed as the Director-General of the campaign team by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
He was also appointed as the commissioner for Education, which he turned down. He was eyeing the Senate to represent Zamfara Central zone in the National Assembly before his demise.
Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has reacted to the news of the demise of his former Director of Campaign and close Associate, Alhaji Jamilu Aliyu.
Governor Matawalle described late Zannah as a trusted and reliable confidant and a very serious and committed person in pursuit of good leadership for the people.
The press statement signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on media, Comrade Zailani Bappa said, “I have always held the late Zannah in high esteem and have given him my confidence for his brilliance, honesty commitment and loyalty.
“I hereby extend my profound condolence to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gusau and the loving family of the late Zannah. I seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness on the gentle soul of my trusted associate, the late Zanna, who has been an inspiring leader and a very enterprising politician.”
“The Governor also extends his sympathy to the entire people of Gusau Emirate and the state at large over the loss as the loss is ours as a whole,” the statement added.
