Daniel Adeniyi, a 200-level student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), on Friday outshined contestants from other universities across Nigeria to emerge winner of the 2021 edition of the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities’ (CODET) National Engineering Project Competition.
Adeniyi was closely followed by Josiah Ati of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, who emerged second and Blessing Olowoeye of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, came third.
Adeniyi’s win was made known in an official statement made available to newsmen on Friday by the university’s spokesman, Adegbenro Adebanjo, who disclosed that Adeniyi was announced as the winner at the grand finale of the individual category of the competition held in Abuja on August 7, 2021.
According to the statement, Adeniyi presented a mobile and multipurpose automated payment machine incorporating APP which he christened ‘CURRENCY’.
Receiving Adeniyi, the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Joseph Fuwape, and the Registrar, Richard Arifalo, congratulated him “for demonstrating and maintaining the excellence and technological innovation FUTA has been known for.
