Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has issued a warning to any traditional ruler who is incapable of controlling the activities of cultists in their communities.
The governor, who made this known on Thursday night in a televised medium, stated that any traditional ruler incapable of containing the activities of cultists in his community would be sanctioned by the government.
Akeredolu who spoke on the crisis in Owo, where six people lost their lives following a violent clash between cultists and members of the Odua People’s Congress, OPC, and in Ikare-Akoko where four persons were killed over chieftaincy tussle said the state government would not hesitate to impose a 24-hour curfew on any community where any form of violence arises.
He also warned that any individual in possession of illegal firearms should submit them to security agencies or they would be prosecuted.
“Every individual in possession of illegal firearms are advised to submit them to security agencies as the government has mandated the security agencies to prosecute any person found with such weapons.
“Parents are advised to control their wards on the use of drugs and other enablers as security agencies have been mandated to be on guard with a view to apprehending users of such drugs,” he said.
