
The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, on Monday sacked all political appointees in the state and dissolved state boards of parastatals Punch reports.
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Ndako Kpaki, and made available to journalists on Monday, Aliyu asked all categories of officers, who had not served up to two years, to return vehicles in their possession.
The statement added, “As part of measures to ensure smooth transition and proper handing-over to the new government in Niger State, Aliyu has approved the dissolution of state boards and termination of political appointments with effect from May 1, 2015.
The governor further instructed that any other officer assigned operational vehicles must return such vehicles immediately and ensure due clearance.
Aliyu had earlier in April written to the State House of Assembly for an approval to sack political appointees in the state.
The Niger state governor lost his bid to go to the Senate has advised members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to work for the failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.
