Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary election in the state after polling 1,040 votes to beat his contender, Azeem Gbolarumi, who polled two votes.
The returning officer, Abdulahi Maibasira, declared Makinde the winner of the primary election having recorded the highest number of valid votes cast.
While reacting to his victory, Makinde said he was overwhelmed by the support of the people while calling on them to back him to win the governorship poll in 2023.
He said he have the support of the people because he had been truthful to them since assuming office in 2019.
After his first attempt failed in 2014, Makinde on September 29, 2018, emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections for Oyo State, after polling 2772 votes at the primary election that took place at liberty stadium, Oke-Ado in Ibadan.
