Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has approved the dissolution of the 14 Local Government Sole Administrators with immediate effect.
This was revealed in a statement on Friday in Gusau, the state’s capital by the Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Governments, Alhaji Abubakar Maradun.
According to the statement, the dissolution comes after the expiration of their tenure elongation period of six months as earlier approved by the State House of Assembly. It expires on Friday, June 4.
The statement said, “In view of this, the outgoing local government council sole administrators have been directed to hand-over the affairs of their respective councils to the Directors of Administration and General Services with immediate effect.”
Gov. Matawalle extended his appreciation to the outgoing sole administrators for their services to the state and wished them success in their future endeavors.
The governor had dissolved members of the state Executive Council and all principal political appointees as well as members of boards in the state on May 31. He said “I dissolved the cabinet because after two years, it is time to reinvigorate my government for the second half of my tenure.”
It was reported on Tuesday that the governor will defect to the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) on June 12, but he has denied it, saying he remains in the PDP.
