Gunmen on Sunday afternoon attacked villages of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, killed some locals and burnt down many houses.
The media officer of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a military task force maintaining peace in Plateau and environs, Ishaku Takwa confirmed the attack on Sunday in Jos.
Although Mr Takwa did not confirm the number of persons killed or injured, he said troops of the task force have been deployed to the area to restore normalcy.
According to a resident of the area, Danladi Dukup some people lost their lives while others sustained serious injuries.
He also noted that many of the villagers have fled their homes for safety following the invasion.
