Haiti, with more than 11 million populations is yet to receive COVID-19 vaccine, Due to this, Haiti has reported over 12, 700 cases and 250 deaths from the coronavirus. This has increased concerns among health workers and experts in Haitian.
TOS News gathered that the country is expected to receive 756, 000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines through a UN program focused on giving jabs to neediest countries in May.
However, General Director of Haiti’s Health Ministry, Lauré Adrien, has expressed concerns over receiving the vaccines.
“If I have three million doses of vaccines, first do we find a safe place for storage? Second do we the capacity to use all the doses before they expire? Because when you receive the vaccines and start using it, it could expire. We have to know all these details before we can start receiving the vaccines,” he expressed.
