The entire village in the west of Bujumbura, Burundi have been deluged after torrential rains made water bodies to burst their banks, resulting in the displacement of residents.
Heavy rainfall and flood is a recurrent problem in the East African country.
Houses, children’s notebooks, clothes and other materials were flooded with residents barely able to save anything.
The most affected areas are the poor, Low-lying neighborhoods of Bujumbura with non-existent proper drainage infrastructure, roads and generally Burundi’s topography.
According to experts, the entire village population needs to be moved for the destroyed area of the eco-system to be rehabilitated.
