The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has revealed that his government managed to pay salaries of its workers due to its judicious management of scarce resources.
The governor made this known during an interview with journalists on Thursday in Abuja.
He further explained that his many years of managing men and materials in the private sector gave him the necessary training to manage issues like payment of salaries in the public sector.
He said, “There is no magic. It is a question of defining your priorities, getting them right. I also believe that workers deserve their pay.
“Don’t forget that I came from a private sector background. I employed people in my company. As a matter of policy, there was no time I didn’t pay their monthly salary. “
The governor also argued that it would be unfair for anyone to say that Nigeria has nothing worth celebrating on October 1, adding that the country has achieved a lot in terms of infrastructural development and still has more to achieve.
He urged Nigerians to continue to support the federal government as it works hard to improve the quality of lives of its people.
