The Kaduna State Government has announced the evacuation of students of University of Jos (UNIJOS) and other tertiary institutions in Plateau State who are its indigenes, following the escalation of killings in Jos, Plateau State and the re-imposition of curfew in some parts of the state.
The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, Malam Hassan Rilwan, on Thursday.
He said the evacuation which was concluded last weekend, followed the state government’s directives that all students from Kaduna State should be evacuated in view of the security situation in Plateau State.
He disclosed that under proper supervision by the board, security agencies evacuated 87 students on Friday, August 20, 2021, and have been reunited with their families.
Rilwan assured citizens of the government’s commitment to securing the lives of the state’s students in Plateau State and other places.
“The board also noted the support it received from the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Senator Uba Sani who assisted immensely in the evacuation of the students,” Rilwan added.
