The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday, lost his polling unit in the local council election.
According to the results announced by the state Independent Electoral Commission for Unit 01 Ungwar Sarki, Kaduna North Local Government, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 86 out of the 159 votes for chairman.
Announcing the results, the Presiding Officer, Muhammad Sani, said the APC had 62 votes while PDP polled 86 votes.
He said the total number of votes cast was 159 for the chairmanship position.
The PDP was also ahead of the ruling APC by 100 votes against 53 for the Councilorship position.
Governor El-Rufai, shortly after casting his vote, had said APC did not have to win everywhere.
He said, “We are not going to behave like other parties or other state governments of the ruling party. We will allow the people of Kaduna State to elect who they want.
“We do not have to win everywhere, though we have worked for the people of Kaduna State, they have seen our footprint, the government and the local government everywhere, they have seen and we are confident that all reasonable minded people will vote for our party, our candidate because they know we are committed to the welfare of the people.”
