Rapper Kanye West was part of Jay Z’s army when the music platform initially launched two months ago. However, new reports claim he is being wooed by Apple in a bid to stage his album release with the global company. Tidal was launched in April but has already come under heavy scrutiny and criticism. Despite a star studded launch, the streaming service which is headed up by Jay Z and wife Beyonce, has so far failed to be a success and has sunk to the bottom of the charts for apps. Kanye is apparently in discussions with rival company Apple, which could see him drop his next album Swish via the global giant company instead of sticking with Tidal.
According to fans “Apple has reportedly offered the music star double what his album sales are predicted to make, and will offer the anticpated album for free – in a similar move to U2’s album Songs of Innocence.” A source who spoke to The Sun said, “Apple are trying everything to get him (Kanye) on board for the launch of their new streaming service in the coming days. “He’s always had a close relationship with Apple and considers Steve Jobs one of his biggest influences.”
