Kenya authorities have placed a bounty offering 60m Kenya shillings reward for information that lead to the arrest of three “armed and dangerous” inmates who escaped from a prison where they were being held on terrorism-related charges.
The inmates escaped from the Kamiti Maximum Prison on the outskirts of the capital, Nairobi, on Monday at 01:00 local time.
The three are Mohamed Ali Abikar, Musharaf Abdalla, and Joseph Juma Odhiambo.
One of them, Abikar was involved in the Garissa University attack on 2 April 2015 that left more than 100 students dead.
A wanted notice by the police said Abdalla was being detained in connection with a failed attack on Kenya’s parliament and Odhiambo had been arrested for recruiting youths into al-Shabab militant group.
