The Public Relations Officer of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna, Malam Abdullahi Shehu, on Friday disclosed that the lecturers and students who were kidnapped have been freed.
Shehu said that the two lecturers and six students were freed on Thursday night and had been reunited with their families after 31 days.
Unknown gunmen attacked the institution on the 10th of June and whisked away some lecturers and students.
A student was killed, while some sustained injuries in course of the incident.
The polytechnic’s PRO did not discuss the ransom paid for the release of the lecturers and students, but said the family members of the abducted dialogued with their kidnappers before their release.
He advised students to be security conscious at all times and avoid night movements.
He also assured the students and the general public of improved security in the polytechnic.
