Maj.-Gen. Yushau Abubakar, has died in an auto crash along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road. The Nigerian Army Headquarters confirmed the death of its Chief of Training and Operations (CTOPs).
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman.
He said the accident occurred on Tuesday while the late senior officer was travelling in a vehicle with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Nigerian Army 3 Division, and Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Aliyu.
Col. Usman said the GOC was in stable condition and responding to treatment in a hospital.
Yushau Abubakar was the immediate past Theatre Commander of the North-East counter-insurgency operation code-named `Operation Lafiya Dole’.
